Quadratic Equations · Roots differing by a constant

Let α,α+2\alpha, \alpha + 2, α∈Z\alpha \in \mathbb{Z}, be the roots of the quadratic equation x(x+2)+(x+1)(x+3)+(x+2)(x+4)+…+(x+n−1)(x+n+1)=4nx(x+2) + (x+1)(x+3) + (x+2)(x+4) + \ldots + (x+n-1)(x+n+1) = 4n for some n∈Nn \in \mathbb{N}. Then (n+α)(n + \alpha) is equal to:
  1. (1)0
  2. (2)1
  3. (3)2
  4. (4)3
